Thanks for all the nice comments. And about the transition, it was hard for both of us at first. He is my first dog strictly of my own since I moved away from home and it was hard to get used to taking him out to potty, feeding, playing, and having a constant shadow. He also was crate trained and the owners gave me his cage. He hated it, but I thought I had to keep him in it. They told me that they put him in there all night, let him out for a half an hour in the morning when they got ready, and then put him in there all day until they got home from work. So, after a few nights of putting him in the cage, I couldn't take it anymore. They told me he had accidents all over the house if they didn't put him in there, but... I was willing to let it happen. For the first few days he did have accidents in the house as being a little boy, he marked his spot everywhere... but, after those first few days, he stopped. He also wasn't leash trained with them, but now he has the hang of it and will get his leash for me when he wants to go out. The only time he has an accident now is an occasional poo in the house because he refuses to go out in the rain, not that I blame him. I feel like they didn't have the attention to give to him anymore and he was just acting out. He seems happily adjusted as far as I can tell now and I am too.
