There is a woman (not the "Dog Whisperer") on TV who talks with animals. I'm sure you have all seen her. Personally, I think she's got a good thing going - but she has a program and people all over the world listen to her - and, Lord help me --the really believe that she is talking to the animals - and they talk back!!!!
I wonder if your mother hasn't seen her.
I'd just tell your mother that it must be a "rare gift" that she has. And - humor her and try to get on to other subjects.
**** I really do appreciate how you feel and can understand how this would be upsetting for you. But, until this sort of thinking enters into other areas of her life - you probably don't need to worry too much. At least, her thinking this way about your dog - is harmless.
