Most shipping companies charge by weight and the large bags of dog food are pretty heavy. In addition, depending on the size or shape of something they also add surcharges for that. Makes it hard for us folks that dont live in the big cities to get things sometimes but can't blame the retailers for passing on at least some of those costs. Everything is soooooooo expensive these days and they do have to try to cover their overhead. There are some that price the merchandise lower so you will think its a good deal and then gouge on the shipping charges to make up for it. This isnt right either but it happens. I dont mind paying a fair amount for shipping but apparently "fair" is a relative term.
