Velcro is pure evil, I'm sure. I use it alot and really it doesn't get much easier.
Make sure that you don't use the sticky back velcro as that bungs up your needle.
On the sides of the velcro is a small...2-3 mm wide area where you can put your seam...right down the sides of the velcro. It's the easiest way to do it. Your thread won't tear, etc.
When you have to sew across, you can trim the velcro with scissors to cut off the sharp parts...right on the edge.
Gosh..this is hard to explain. lol
