Hi, my Yorkie had his dew claws clipped off as a puppy and they also do that to Poodles. My maltese has her dew claws so I guess it is either a breeder's choice or a breed procedure started by who knows who. But they are about an inch above the paw pad on the inside of the leg and they must be kept trimmed like the paw claws or they will dig into the leg and may damage the skin. Good question!
