We had a brand new house with white carpet when we got Loki (Don't ever pick your carpet out from a 3"x3" square you will not get the right color!) Anyway we bought a $70 Bissell "Quicksteamer" and it's AWESOME. I can do a spot FAST and it's very small but still an upright so I don't have to bend over. You can't do the whole room with it, but it works great for spills (me) and messes (Loki). The worst mess is dog puke. I have gotten every dog stain out of my white carpet except where Loki puked something orange.
