Hi, soon-to-be Yorkie owner - questions - Hello everyone. We are getting an adult female Yorkie in a few weeks. She is a retiring breeder who is 6 years old.
I have a number of questions, while we get ready for her to arrive. Her owner is out of town, so maybe I can get a little advice here?
First of all, I would like to buy a set of clippers for grooming, as I would like to do this myself. Is there a particular product that people recommend?
Also, I notice that many of you allow your Yorkie to sleep with you. Our little girl is very tiny (not sure of a weight, but probably 5 lbs or less). If you have a bed of typical height, can the dog jump up and down on his/her own? My floor is not carpeted, and I'm wondering if I will need to build her a ramp? Get some of those carpeted stairs? Also I'm wondering the same thing about my stairs to the second floor. They are not carpeted. Can a small Yorkie make it up a standard flight of stairs independently? Or will she need to be carried up and down? Hopefully these questions aren't too dumb!
We are excitedly awaiting our new arrival. We have to wait until her puppies are weaned, then she will be spayed and become our pet. |
