I am so sorry for your loss......I know the pain must be unbearable.....you've lost one of your family members and my heart goes out to you. I do all my grooming at home on my Yorkie and maltese and I keep them both long coated but it takes a lot of work. But just don't trust groomers. I took the Yorkie to a groomer once since I had him (six months). I just wanted his nails done and his ears at the top. Figured I would let them do it once and then I could keep them up. AND I asked before going if they knew "how" to do Yorkie ears. Well, they did a butcher job and I was glad when he did pee pee on their counter. I will never take either of them to a groomer. But if you did not give the groomer permission (perhaps you signed something or they have a sign up stating the sedate you did not see), he should have called and said he was having trouble and needed to sedate and let you make that decision.
