Being on the opposite side of a similar relationship, I totally understand.
I am the passive mother with a contolling DIl, who thinks my son should NEVER spend time with his family.
I sympathize with you, whenever any one person is being controlled by another it is not a good situation.
I doubt that it will change so my advice is.
