I have a baby play pen (2 of them) from Walmart. It does have mesh sides but Bella never tried to climb it or chew it.
We use one for her sleeping at night and one in our family room when we need her to be out of the way like vacuuming etc.

I have her bedding and stuffed animals on one side and a wee wee pad on the other. She used to use the wee wee pad in the middle of the night when she first came home, now she holds it. I do still keep it in there just in case.

Bella is 16 weeks now and still sleeping in here, it has worked for us.
