I would bring him to the vet. What if he has something wrong with his paws? I heard a sad story once from my neighbor. Her cousin and his wife had a collie and she had this same thing happen. She ended up having to have a few of her toes removed. I don't remember all the details but I do remember that they saw signs -- like the blood every day after she came home from her daily walk. So I'd definitely bring my baby in to the vet right away just to be on the safe side.
