I've never tried them in the rain, just snow, but I'm sure the training process would be the same. I've considered using some in the rain, but since cold isn't a concern I figured I'd just train them to get used to wet paws. They are easier to dry than to put on booties. LOL. However, if you want to try it, here's what I did.
Be consistent. Put them on the dog, and don't let them tell you no. I used to have to chase Eddie around the house on a daily basis to get them on, but once he realized I wouldn't give up, he did. (It helped that we had touched his feet daily since he was a pup to get him used to nail trimming.)
To get them to walk, put a favorite treat 2 feet in front of their nose and make them walk to it. They might do this pathetic hop, stagger, hop for a while, but once they focus on the treat, you've won. Don't overdo it, though. If you can see them losing patience, quit and try again another time. Always quit on a success, even if it's only a step or two.
