Wow! I must be super overprotective. My baby (almost 2) is in a completely baby proofed room. It is pretty large and contains all the toys and activities a little girl could want. It is gated shut! Layla is not allowed in there unless I am in there with her and I am holding her. Once in a while, she is allowed down, but only when my daughter is being very mellow. Other than that, nope! Now, when my daughter goes into the other rooms, she has her hand held and can only go where she is supposed to go. I am strict. With her, and with Layla. So, the mix pretty well. I think the key is training. Training the pup and training the child. Also, training yourself to realize that the pup is just like another child. So I have two now! I realize accidents happen, but, you know, sometimes an adult falls too, or flops down and doesn't look where they are sitting. With proper supervision, kids and yorkies are fine, imo.
Oh, I have to say also, I do stay home all the time. I don't have a choice. I can't work. If I could, darn right I would! So, I don't think that should be a criteria either really. I do understand not wanting the pup to be home alone ALL the time, but come on! |
