well id say it depends on the child and on the yorkie, i wouldnt have a very small yorkie around a child as they can be hurt so easy, and i wouldnt trust any breed of dog with children on there own. yorkies can be snappy and as small normaly bite the face of a child. i have 4 yorkies and they all like children but saying that one of them i only have due to the fact she bit the last owners little boy on the face, but with me she has been fine with my friends kids and my niece but i still would never leave them alone in a room with any child. i dont think you shouldnt get a yorkie cos you wants kids, i want kids and i have 4 yorkies and would never part with any of them but i will make sure if i leave the room the baby goes with me or is put in the playpen so safe. now with the worry of the yorkie getting hurt, my yorkies are all different sizes from about 10 to 12 pounds but saying that 3 of them are quite small short and compact but they are sturdy and do not injury easy so a larger yorkie shouldnt be a problem or worry.
