Thanks. That is just coming from the parent in me. A dog is a whole different story than say a hamster or a lizard. My kids have all kinds of lizards and stuff like that that are easy to care for and relatively cheap. I made a deal with the kids that they had to buy the reptile with their money but I would pay for the supplies to take care of it. This way it teaches them to take care of it or they lost out on the money that they spent. But that is totally different than a dog. A dog has vet bills and all kinds of stuff. I myself just think that until a kid is at least through high school they aren't responsable enough for thier very own dog. |
