Default When to switch to adult food?

My two yorkies are 13 months and 7 months. I had always planned on keeping them both on puppy food until Maddie turned 1 year, Wesley would be 18 months by then. But when I was talking to a lady at the pet store, she said that Wesley should be on adult food now and it would be okay if Maddie was too. I'm just worried about Maddie missing some of the nutrients that she especially needs as a puppy if she is on adult food. Feeding them different foods isn't really an option because I know that they would both insist on eating exactly opposite of what I intend for them. Is it bad for Wesley to be on puppy food when he is over 1 year old?

What are your thoughts on this? When did you switch to adult food? What do people with more than one dog do? Any advice is appreciated.
