I got a 10-year-old rescue who had house-training problems when we got him. I just taught him exactly like I would a pup. Let him out and praise, praise, praise for success. Failures get a "no," and a trip outside.
Nine months later, he's had periods of 100 percent success but also setbacks. Right now, I'd say he's about 95 percent, and the failures always come when we're not home. He barks at the door when we're home.
Definitely try to check her potty-training background as FirstYorkie suggests, but lacking any hard information, don't let it scare you off. Old dogs can learn...
