Adonis (my 5 year old yorkie), didn't start out loving going for a ride. His first ride, besides to the vets office, was a trip from Mobile, AL to Austin, TX. He cried the first 30 minutes, to the MS state line. I just knew it would be a very long 10 hour drive.
But he did quiet down. And now, all I have to say is "wanna go with Mama" and he's out the door before I am! He loves a ride.
If I had it all to do over again, I'd started with short trips like yorkieusa suggested.
I'd orginally trained Adonis to sit in the passanger seat by putting his bed in it. After that first trip, a car seat was bought, cause I knew with my Mom out there, we'd be making frequent trips out there. He loves his car seat, he can see out the window really good with it.
He now rides in a car seat. Only time he gets out of it, is when he knows its time to get out of the car, at our destination. |
