One thing that *really* helps is if I give him a "chicken lollipop" which is basically a "chicken jerky" piece that is stuck to a rawhide stick - he loves the chicken so much he will be absolutely silent for any length of car ride! So maybe give the pup a bully stick in the car? Just be sure to keep your eye on him.
But: if Buddy eats too much his tummy doesn't feel so good, so I try to keep it to a minimum.
