Read about this tip two days ago and decided to try the can method. Used a soda can (rinsed out and air dried) with the pennies in it. I then taped the top. Have been having Alpha issues since we brought our pup home at 10 weeks and she is now 14+ weeks. We were thinking we had made a huge mistake introducing a new puppy with a 4 year old Min-pin and a 7 year old Min-pin/cocker cross. Total chaos and unrest for the last few weeks!! Lots of snapping and growling by the oldest dog and torment of the middle one by chasing and biting on her legs by the new one. As of yesterday morning and a shake or two of the can - you could not ask for three more well-behaved and wanting attention dogs. The oldest dog does not snarl and growl when the wee one comes around and the wee one does not continually torment the other two. Tried it when the older ones rushed to the door barking when the door bell rang. Stopped them in their tracks. No more wild barking!!! The wee one was getting where she did not want to be held and you should see her now. She is not far from me wherever I am and will sit by me or on my lap for as long as I let her. Read somewhere that the owner should be the Alpha not vice-versa. The once growling, snapping oldest dog now allows the wee one to actually give her kisses and this oldest dog has never come to me willingly to be petted. Jumped up beside me last night. Shocked!!!!! Wish I had known this for all the years we have had dogs. Thanks for this Forum!!!
