There are 2 standards for the Biewer that are written in the USA. Check to see which one your breeder is referring to and make sure it is accurate. I have seen pics of one puppy that has pink freckles on her nose and the standard I believe says the nostrils should be all black. Is that a fault? Well, in the ring it should be. Does it stray from the standards? Again, yes that should be a fault. I would disagree that there are not breeders in the US who are educated enough to sell Biewers as breeders conforming to the standard. I personally know of 3 people who are very well versed in the breed and the standards. There Are shows in the US that are sanctioned by the breed club. Those people are knowledgeable but most likely will NOT sell Biewers with breeding rights unless certain criteria are met. I do not know your breeder but I have heard the name. A biggie is PSS free stock; another is hip and eye-negative testing. You can visit the Biewer Club of America site and the standards are there. There is also another breeders club but, my understanding is that one does not recognize the other.
I do not claim to be an expert on these babies,I just know that I love my 3 Biewers dearly. I also love my AKC parti male as much.. If he didn't have a docked tail, he would meet the Biewer standard. For that reason, he is being DNA'd...I do not want any misconceptions as to whom the father of my puppies are when they start whelping. I will be breeding one pair of partis and the piebald gene that produces the Biewer is the same piebald gene that produced my parti boy. It is great to see so much passion about a breed as these Yorkies. And, the Biewers whether a breed apart or not will create quite a stir when we all start with our puppies. woooooohoooooo!
I would think that for the amount of money you are paying, you could make arrangements to go to Germany and bring home puppies straight from the mommie's womb. I would like to see pics no matter where you get them. I love baby pics!! |
