I've had both and personlly prefer the girl. Personally I think depends on the dog. I like the girl b/c I like to dress them up and do their hair. My girl is mischevious, funny, chases birds and flies, fetches, and can be a boy sometimes but is also very sweet, loves to cuddle and kiss and can be mellow or hyper and is my shadow. I guess I have the best of both worlds. If I could do it all over again, I'd get a girl b/c these are foofy dogs and I can dress them up.
