I used to have the same problem. I use a litter box with a pad inside; no litter. Still, he would not poop if there, only pee. You really need to catch him when he's going outside the box, show your disappointment with a no no, ah ah, etc and then place him in the box and say good boy. I started doing that; it took some time but he's doing pretty good overall. Once in a while he may poop outside the box if it's really dirty, but I try to avoid that. They don't seem to like to pee and poop in the same place and especially in a box, but because they want to please you, eventually they will understand that's what you want, so they will end up doing it.
Also, you may want to try getting a bigger box, so he has more space to find a cleaner spot. |
