I think that the local governments need to have spay/neuter clinics. The problem is, the people that get these big dogs, that end up in shelters, are poor people. Chances are the puppy was given to them, they're fortunate to be able to feed it let alone get it spay/neutered.
It would take considerable money initially, but I really believe that in the long rundf it would be cheaper than having so many end up in shelters.
When you think of all the money that the gov. wastes, this would be a drop in the bucket.
This could be mandatory for vet interns. They could put income requirements on the program, but my thought is, not many people would use the free clinic if they could afford to pay for it. |
