I do not trim my babies butt hair because they go to the groomer once a month. But I do wipe their butts, I also wipe their feet and dry their hair if they go out in the rain.
Little, tiny dogs are much closer to the ground, have very short legs and longer hair styles. Of course they get more on them when going potty than a boxer does. Not to be gross, but a boxer's poop has approx 1-1.5 feet between the poop leaving their butt and hitting the ground. A Yorkie has what, maybe 2-3 inches???
