Yes they do pull the ear hair out. I am not a groomer nor have I taken Reagan yet so I can't tell you the specifics. However, I read on here someone who did it at home who said that they did it a few hairs at a time. So I tried it and pulling just a few really didn't seem to bother Reagan at all. It would take forever to get them all out by just pulling a few though so they (groomers) may pull a bunch (well maybe not a bunch but a few more than a few) at a time and that might hurt the dog, or just startle her, at first. Like I said I don't know specifics but I do know that they pull it out.
I have to say though I don't know how I would feel about someone looking over my pup and saying all the things that needed to be done, unless I asked, which you may have done.
