we had to do the same. Our vet recommended MSG, it's a bag you can find in your grocery store that's looks like sugar. IT's like a $1 per bag and you put a tiny bit in their water. Works for ours. It's used in human foods, and i've noticed when I eat foods with MSG, it makes me so thirsty and I've noticed our dog drinking more when we put this in her water.
