I have been interacting by email with a Karen Wilkes of Georgia. She had an ad posted this week on terrificpets.com of a really cute little female yorkie. I let her know I was interested, and we emailed back and forth with questions, answers... the price was $1599, but in another email she told me that the male yorkies were 1599, the female was 1699. I was O.K. with that. I asked for pictures of mom and dad, and more pictures of the puppy. She told me she was busy the next day, but would have pictures by the evening. She also suddenly added that the female that I liked was the smallest, so would be more expensive than the $1699 she quoted -- she didn't tell me how expensive. The next day I went on terrificpets.com, and surprise, surprise another breeder was advertising my puppy using the same picture, and karen was advertising it again, but this time under a different address???? I contacted Karen as to who really had the puppy, but never heard back from her. I called her and she insisted she had the puppy, but also told me the puppy I wanted was the smallest of the females and was $2,800!!! I contacted the other breeder -- apparently that breeder had the puppy and was asking only $1200. She explained to me that Karen buys puppies from her and sells them for higher prices. When I asked karen about this, she said to me arrogantly "well I have to make some money on reselling puppies, it's like I'm a pet store". I don't quite understand how someone can justify making another $1600 on someone else's work and also make other people pay more then they have to. I am told, by the way, that Karen Wilkes is a priests wife!!! I'll bite my tongue and not comment on that one! At the end of the day, by the time I sent e-mails, made phone calls, etc. my cute little $2,800 puppy had been sold for $1200 to some lucky lady!!!
