Rottweilers descended from the italian mastiff,they were origionally bred in Germany, and were some what exstinct during the 18th century, however the breed became popular again at the start of the 20th century.
The rottweiler is a strong muscular dog, with a well developed muzzle and strong scissor bite.
They have a natural guard instinct, but have a mellow temperment, they are devoted to their master, and will be quite protective of them.
Rottweilers are highly intelligent, therefore making training fairly easy. They have many talents including herding, police work, guarding, competitive obedience and schutzhund.
Rottweilers should be trained and socialised from a young age, this breed loves socialisation and companionship.
They thrive on exercise, but are happy and calm in a home.
Their life expectancy is 10-12 years, and are prone to over eat, snore, and develop hip dysplasia and entopion.
