No, Rotts were originally bred for herding, if you have ever been around one, they are very physical dogs and natural herders.

Rotties have a "Wait and See" attitude, they generally wait to see what a strangers intentions are before reacting. People that have dogs that attack "for no reason" need to look at the dogs environment. Was he excercised enough? Neglected? All too often children taunt dogs, I put a really quick stop to that. I was coming home and finding sticks in the yard, and then one day I caught a group of small children (3-8 years old) squirting Bruno in the face with a water gun. He HATES that. Let it happen a few more times, he will start to hate them, and boom! He bites one and I loose my dog. That is how it happens. And try to explain to the parents that theory, they look at me like I've got a killer in my yard. No, your kid is a punk and needs disipline, my dog is minding his own buisness in his own yard. It starts with the parents of child and dog, morons shouldn't be able to reproduce.
well im not trying to kill the breed, and yes that is the general thoughts about this breed, because they always get a bad rap. i dont have time to research this breed, i personally have no interest in larger breeds. I only put the story on here as i thought it was awfully sad, i would have still put it on here if it was a jack russell terrier. I have nothing against big dogs, i just happen to only be interested in small breeds.
On the news it said that rotts were bred for basically being vicious, but i have been around a few rotts that were very nice and i have also been around some nasty ones, its the same with all dogs i guess?
