Angry

It makes me so angry when I read about another Rott attack. I own a Rott and my family has always had Rotts. I have only nothing, but good things to say about them. We have never had a problem, EVER, with any of our dogs. They never have been chained, starved for food, love, attention or exercise. We treat our pets as members of the family, we respect them and they know who's boss- Not them.

Children are not allowed to play alone with them, only because of sheer size (Bruno jumps and scratches sometimes). I can also say that any children that were in my family learned from an early age, what is appropriate behavior around a dog. No hitting, pulling, pushing, or screaming and to never run from a dog. Some dogs have high prey drives, Rotties are one. Chasing becomes a game to them, especially a small child. When will people understand you have to pay attention to your children 24/7? Even with my Yorkie, very rarely will I let a child hold them, I can count the times. I don't care if people call me a bitch, "Look, but don't touch". I am more afraid of Marilynn and Melvin snapping, then the 100lb Vicious Rottweiler.

All dogs bite! Little ones (dogs) don't get reported nearly as much because a Yorkie bite may hurt, but a Rottie bite does damage. I figured to see "Ban the Rottweiler" proposals in the story, I did not figure to see a intelligent idea. I think making a license, for owning a dog based on breed, would help with a lot of problems. Tests on that breeds temperment, history, exercise requirements, everything from A-Z would be fantastic. I know so many people that just get whatever is "cool" or popular and are severly disapointed in their dog. Because they know NOTHING about it!!! Rotties take a long time to mature, can be smarter than the owner and will test you endlessly. I see unhappy Rottie homes all the time. I believe everyone has a dog out there suited to their lifestyle and needs, with time everyone can find their dog. Rotties and Yorkies are my dogs, we get each other. I got a Rottweiler because I love the breed and every goofy quality they posses. I love Rottweilers. I hate ignorant people and parents, those who think it is the dogs fault. There is always some kind of underlying reason a dog becomes dangerous, we are at fault.

Sorry that was so long, I get so upset when I hear about these. I know what the back lash is coming too, BSL. The general public freaks out and never even gives them a chance. Ruining it for the dedicated and genuine breed lovers. In the mean time, because they have gained media attention, thugs and criminals everywhere rush out to get one of these "Mean dogs". Its a dirty cycle, and it will continue until every dog has a bad rap. Ban one breed, irresponsible people will just find another breed to ruin.

Pictures below are of Bruno, my baby. L-R: Finishing off his soccer ball, 6 months old with his Snake, and Me, Shane, Melvin & Bruno-Family portrait, before Marilynn.
