What did the vet say to her? I know someone who breeds and they let the male and female together once she is ready and don't know exactly which dates and how many times they breed. They tend to loose puppies....they can have pups in the same litter that were fertilized at different times. It is safe to do what you advised....keep them apart after YOU are done choosing when they breed until she is no longer willing.
