Ferdinand has a thinner coat - we've only had him groomed once, and I chose to go with the puppy cut. I hated it at first, but when it started growing back a little bit I like it more. They cut his coat on his body to 1" - it's about 1.5" now and looks good (to me anyway, but everyone has their own preference).
