I know nothing about AI in dogs, but with AI in horses you both sign a contract guaranteeing a life foal (shipping included) the stud must send sperm until a life foal is produced (for some reason I think there is a limit to having many samples they will send). We are having a similar problem our studs sperm isn't shipping very well so we are trying to find a new method so that we don't have to keep shelling out new samples.
Sorry I'm not more help. Did you sign a contract? How far away is the stud? If you have to pay that high of a shipping fee finding a stud in your area may be more economical.
