I definately agree that they should be put down and owners NEED to pay the vet bills. I haven't even brought my puppy home from the breeder's yet and already love her so much. I would die if something like this ever happened to my baby, my heart really goes out to Dot and her owner
I used to own a pit/terrier mix and it took some diligent training to socialize her with other dogs, even though she was a giant sweetheart by herself. It takes a very responsible person to own an agressive breed dog and this owner was obviously ignorant of their responsibilities as a pit owner. The pits alone can't take the blame for this, this is hugely due to the owner's lack of training and care to muzzle them.
