I am an organ donor and so is my husband. Even if you do not check "yes" to be an organ donor they will still ask the family. All that means(on your license) where is states you are an organ donor is just that....that you want to donate your organs. They still have to ask a family member if they are will to donate your organs. I know this as my former sister-in-law was brain dead and had checked off "yes" and they STILL had to get her husbands permission to remove and donate her organs. My former brother-in-law received a letter stating that if at any time any family member needed an organ that, because his wife donated all of her organs, tissues and all else, that they would be put on top of the list. He needs a heart....they told him he has to be put on the list like everyone else. My sister-in-law died about 18 years ago.
