Ok so I just spoke to ASPCA food and nutrition help line (which was great and the lady was so helpful). She said that she believes the only dog foods that DON'T have garlic or onion are Science Diet and Iams which I told her is NOT something I'm going to feed my dog. I told her the foods I give Coco and she said those are great high quality foods (Innova and Nutro). She said that these companies do so much research and testing on their foods. That the amount of garlic (my innova has one whole garlic clove in the formula) that they use is only for flavor and not enough to cause toxicity to my dog. But I have to be careful with treats because a big mixture of store bought treats and her food could lead to danger. For instance the treats should not make up for than 4-5% of her daily in take, that I should try to stick with using some fruits and veggies as natural treats (minus grapes). Also she said commercial baby food has caused toxicity so if you're going to feed your yorkies baby food, make sure there is no onion/garlic in it because those are usually in big amounts. If you want to learn about mixing foods, check my other thread on vitamin requirements.
