Given their small size - the 4 to 7 pound or 5 to 7 pound weight variance is quite a bit.
It's true that Yorkies can shorter, shorter legged, longer, taller, more solid, etc. than other Yorkies. The standard weigh range is only what they need to be to be shown. Other than this - it makes no difference what our Yorkies weigh - and there is really a huge range. (I have heard from 1 1/2 pounds to 18 pounds - go figure!)
I think it's fine the way it is.
***** My 10 pound Yorkie plays with a little 5 pound Yorkie all the time - and they really don't seem to be that much different in size. They are both about the same height, etc. Mine is just much more solid and much heavier (though not fat at all). The other little guy is thin- thin - thin and longer legged.
