Why is it than when we have human babies everyone showers the mommy with gifts and attention, but no one ever has

puppy showers'
? To me, my puppy is my child and I want to celebrate it just like I would if I was having a baby!
So I'm going to pitch this idea to my mom and see if she thinks I'm totally bananas (the party would have to be at her house so she HAS to be on board!) I just think it would be a great opportunity for all of our family and friends to come by and see the new pup and bring their own pets and children as well. It sounds like an excellent socialization opportunity for the pup too! If people want to bring a gift (which will be stressed is NOT necessary) it's super easy and cheap to pick up a squeeky toy or two.
So what do you all think? I think I'm on to something here...
