When Gracie is in the car, she rides in her carrier or in her car seat. She is secured either way with a strap that is hooked onto her harness. I keep a pee pad in the bottom of either. She has NEVER wet or pooped in her carrier or in the car seat. It is like a crate to her I guess. At any rate, this method would keep things contained and off YOUR car seat.
