when I 1st got Bella, she was WAY to small for any crate (this is when i was back home at my parents, visiting, with out my hubby) I put a pee pad at the end of the bed, right where she liked to sleep and she would go on it.. a few times she would miss, but 95% of the time she got it on the ped.
Now that I am back in Germany with my hubby.. I cant put a pee pad on the bed, he would FREAK out, if I did
