| To Be "Chocolate" or Not to be "Chocolate", that is the question. Wow....What a big following in regard to the chocolate yorkie(s). A nice stunt to pull to arouse the minds of all yorkie loves. I hope you got the information you were looking for. There are lots of knowledgeble folks out there. I just wanted to add my two cents...since I had a chocolate yorkie in a litter once. I kept the chocolate puppy for year after hearing a lot of hoopla about it being rare. Did my own research...Found out that it is called a liver, chocolate or whatever..He is beautiful. He has hazel eyes, red nose and reds pads. I kept him for a year to see what colors he would be after his coat changed. He now has a blond crest and is still chocolate with silver mixed in his coat. I was once told to destroy him (just as you were), but I shutter to think of anyone who would destroy their child after they find out he is retarded, or has downs syndrome, or is just different. After a year... I sold him (very cheap) to my daughter because I wanted to keep him in the family so I could continue to watch his progress. And the only reason I sold him to my daughter, which I love very much, is because as a parent you must continue to teach your children responsibility while you learn it yourself! I went to see my creation yesterday (which is also from two yorkies that are not related). Responsible breeders try to isolate that gene and then do the right things to improve the breed. So....what I'm saying is congradulations on what you thought was different and I know you'll do the right thing. Good luck.... |
