I agree with the previous post. I had a Yorkie once that was ACA and it was definately a product of two dogs that should not have been breed. (She only got half of her perminant teeth) Now I'm not saying that all ACA dogs are bad dogs and shouldn't be breed or that all AKC dogs are wonderful dogs, but it seems in alot of cases, someone may purchase an AKC dog with a limited registration and then registar it with a different registary so that they can sell the pups as registarred.
We are expecting a litter a APR puppies. Our male is AKC and our female is APR (but she was so beautiful and perfect we had to have her) so the pups have to be registared APR. However, I do show my dogs and know that they are very close to standard and are very healthy.
As for people saying that it is cheaper to registar with ACA or any other registary. I think that they are trying to cover something (sorry opinion), but if there is a difference it is not that much. I've had dogs that are AKC, APR, and ACA and I don't remember the exact amounts I paid to have the dogs registarred, but it wasn't a considerable difference.
My biggest complaint about the ACA is that the couple of times I e-mailed them they never replied, and when I called them they never had any answers. This is also my complaint about other registaries like the ASCA (austrailan shepard club of America)(yeah i know this is Yorkie talk but I would like an austrailan shepard for agility and obedence). The AKC and APR have always been quick to answer my questions and e-mails. The AKC actually has an e-mail sent to you immediately that says they will be getting back to you.
Okay I'm rambling, sorry. The bottom line is. Get your dog from someone you trust. and make sure you get to see the parents, and make sure it is healthy. And get one that fits your needs.
