Here's my story, some people here are oh too familiar as I kept posting asking for help with the coat. Pepper never got used to brushing by the breeder as well, and before I knew it he was so tangled I couldn't even stick a comb in that fur... . He did get me in tears quite a few times as I felt like such a bad Yorkie momma and couldn't comb through those mats. I searched and searched the forums and decided to bring him to the groomer but I knew he'd get clipped really short, but I really didn't want him to go through dematting and traumatize him that way. He went in over a week ago, at the age of 15 weeks. They cut him so short ! They even shaved his belly completely it was that bad... But I kinda liked it, just missed that baby fluff a little, suddenly he didn't even look that much of a puppy anymore. Well, the hair grows so fast I can hardly believe my eyes. But also, combing takes 20-30 minutes and he's really brushed well now- no more knots, just silky smooth hair, it's a pleasure to do every morning! And we have more time to play.
I recommend groomers. The hair will grow back before you know it, he may look funny for a few weeks or so, but hey, it's only a month, you've got the whole lifetime to grow his hair.....
