With both of mine I had them just outside of my bedroom in their crates. I wanted them to get used to their crates being in the same place. I set my alarm (not that you'll need it for the first couple of nights) to get up every 2 hours to let them out. After a week I lengthened it to every 3 hours and so on. Everntually I was only getting up once a night and after about 6 weeks I wasn't getting up at all. I got one of mine at 10 weeks and the other (my Boston Terrier) at 6 weeks. Tank, my yorkie, lasted a little longer without a potty break than Buckeye because he was older when he came home.

The first night Buckeye cried a lonely cry. The second night it was a mad cry. He has been out with us all day and did not want to be in his crate. After that I started playing hard with him about 30 minutes bfore bed time and then took him out right before he went into his crate. That helped alot. Potty pads didn't work for us so that's why I decided to go this route.

Good luck! And as excited as you're going to be, try to get a good night's sleep tonight...it'll be your last for a while. But it's all worth it in the end.
