I was told a long time ago that a dog's digestive system is lots slower than a human's so we can't compare how they eat to our own habits. Most of the dogs I have had have eaten once a day. A couple of them preferred twice a day and one liked to nibble throughout the day. Adie (19 weeks old) phased out her third feeding and is down to twice a day. Since she is so tiny I will keep feeding her twice but a lot of the time it is a struggle. She just doesn't have a lot of interest in dog food.
