When I bought my second baby, and she was home with me only 4 hrs and was very sick, hypothermia, hypoglycemia, and upper respitory infection. I called the breeder and she said to bring her back, but If I did that she would die, the trip was to far. So I took her to my vet, he put a catheter in her juggler vein, as her veins were too small to take the meds. She was only 8 ounces and 10 wks old. She would have died if I took her to the breeder. So going with what my vet did, he told me to take her to the 24 hr. emergency vet hosp. and I did. They didn't give her much hope thru that first nite, but after that she started to improve each day. I got to see her in her incubator, and in a couple of days she was riding in the dr's pocket. They fed her small amounts of Gerber Turkey babyfood. This kept her health up and after a week in the hosp. she came back home where I had to feed her every 3 hrs a teaspoon of that Turkey baby food for over a month and gradually increased the amount. She was better in no time. She's now almost 7 yrs old and doing fine. Still plays like she's a pup ! I know its not the same as your baby has, but don't give up hope. I never did and I'm glad I kept her. By the way, the breeder didn't get paid, she sold me a sick pup instead I had to pay the hosp bill for a weeks stay that was $950. The breeder had no comment.
I hope your Reco makes it thru this difficult time, prayers go out to him. Hoping for good news soon and the meds will work to help him thru.
God bless. |
