Wrenee thank you SO MUCH for taking that bold first step in posting. Sugars Mom, I completely understand, as the former director of a rescue, it took a lot to convince myself TO BREED. It's a matter of "doing it right" that makes the difference. People are going to buy puppies regardless if there are a million homeless dogs, yes many adopt, and GOOD FOR THEM!!!!!
However, if people who are doing things by the book, breeding correct, healthy dogs are not the ones with an occasional puppy available, it is the BYB's and Mills that are going to be getting the puppy buyers who are not interested in adopting .. and to me that is just as bad. Personally I would rather someone adopt from a rescue or a shelter than buy a puppy from me (not that I have very many puppies..lol) but some people just don't WANT a rescued dog, in which case, there is a need for reputible breeders. So I completely understand both sides of the fence.
