Its sad to think they need this kind of law to protect puppies. Most people should not be breeding, if they do not care enough about the babies they produce to keep them until they are strong and eating well and emotionally stable. Big dogs are ready a lot sooner than our little yorkies, sometimes mine are not even weaned until they are 10 weeks. It all depends on their mothers and how the puppies are coming along. I just weaned one litter at 9 weeks and I have not yet weaned the other litter I have as I have a tiny in it. I do not believe their mother is letting them nurse much any more but just in case she is there for them. The litter is now almost 10 weeks and my tiny is finally 1 pound. No one can tell me these puppies are ready to go at 6 or 8 weeks, unless they don't care if they live or die. I care........
