Royal canin has corn (cheap filler product that is hard to digest) in it and I think the first ingredient is a grain, not a meat - choose another since you are switching anyway. Eukanuba is definitely better than Pedigree. I fed Eukanuba for years with excellent health and coat results, but it does have by-products in it so I have switched to Nutro Natural Ultra - Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul is another good one, Candidae, merrick's are others.

To change food, just add about 1/4 of the new with the old for a week, and then 1/2 of the new with 1/2 of the old for the next week, and then 3/4 of the new and 1/4 of the old for the next week, and then finally all new!
